Perfume of the Week

Warning: More often than not, a Victoria's Secret Body Mist will be the 'Perfume of the Week.' You can NEVER go wrong with their body mists. In fact, Victoria's Secret Body Mists are probably my favourite perfume, there are many different scents, they are quite cheap and they are great for people who are very sensitive to strong smells. A few of my friends are highly allergic to most perfumes, but they are fine with these body mists because there are lower concentrations of actual perfume in the body mists than in actual perfumes.

Now that that's out of the way, for this section of the blog you will need to know some lingo. If you already know these terms then congratulations but this is what I mean when I say the following:

Longivity: How long the scent of the perfume lasts.

Poor: Lasts for 30 minutes - 1 hour
Weak: Lasts for 1 - 2 hours

Moderate: Lasts for 3 - 6 hours

Long Lasting: Lasts for 7 - 12 hours

Very Long Lasting: Lasts for 12+ hours

Sillage: How the scent of the perfume diffuses around the wearer.

Soft: sits close to skin without a trail

Moderate: radiates within arms length

Heavy: radiates within around 1.8 metres (6 feet)

Enormous: fills a room

NOTE: Generally the perfumes with higher sillage are floral fragrances.

Now that you know the lingo you can read ahead.

Perfume of the Week:

14th November 2015 (AEST)

The perfume for the week is 'Fantasy' by Britney Spears. Yes I know very 2005 but it is such as good fragrance. It has moderate to very long lasting longevity and moderate to heavy sillage. This perfume is sort of like Pink Diamond by Cher Lloyd and Pink Sugar Sensual by Aquolina. Fantasy is usually $35 but can usually be found cheaper.

Short one today, soz not soz :''''),

Perfume of the Week:

7th November 2015 (AEST)

This week's perfume of the week is Katy Perry's 'Mad Potion.' Mad Potion was just released in fall of this year and is available in 0.5 oz (15mL) and 1 oz (30mL) and 3.4 oz (100mL) as well as a 2.5 oz Deo Natural Spray, body lotion and shower gel. Mad Potion has moderate longevity and sillage. I just recently bought it and am very happy with it. It has a nice vanilla musky scent and very much reminds me of Body Fantasies Signature Vanilla Parfums de Coeur. The 100mL bottle cost $69 RRP but it is often on special, so if you are looking for it at a cheaper price check out CFD or Chemist Warehouse.

Perfume of the Week:

31st October 2015 (AEST)

The perfume of the week this week is...'Pure Seduction' by Victoria's Secrect. This one is by far my favourite VS Body Mist just because the combination of melon, plum and freesia really does make you feel completely and utterly irresistable. Again, this perfume is easier on the allergies than highly concentrated perfumes and is very affordable (only $15 direct from VS). The perfume has weak to moderate longevity, so reapplication is needed to maintain the scent throughout the day. It also has moderate sillage so for better diffusion around the body spray on both collarbones and wrists. I have had this perfume for the past 6 months and have used less than a quarter, however, I do not use it every day. Even if I did, since the perfume is so cheap, it doesn't have to be used sparingly. I would recommend this to all VS Body Mist fans and anyone who loves/uses Selena Gomez' Eau de Parfum.

Bye now,

Perfume of the Week:

24th October 2015 (AEST)

This weeks perfume of the week is...*drumroll* 'Sunflowers' by Elizabeth Arden! A strong fruity floral fragrance that has been around since 1993 and yet people still love it. It is definitely a summer scent. This frangrance has moderate sillage and moderate longevity but DO NOT OVER APPLY. I guess this is the case with basically all perfumes but too much of it can just be suffocating. There is a such a thing as too much perfume. Anyway, I really love this perfume, it smells like you are walking through a gorgeous sunflower field during summer. 'Sunflowers' lasts very well. I have had this bottle for the past one and a half years and have used under a quarter of it. That being said I only wear it in summer and occassionally in spring. This perfume comes in two sizes 1.7 oz (50mL) and 3.3 oz (97mL). The smaller size costs $29.50 and the larger one costs $39.50, however, I know I have seen it for $15-$20 in shops like Cosmetic Fragrances Direct (CFD). This frangrance is not too popular, I only know of a handful of people who own it so if you are looking for something a bit unique go for this one, unless you don't like fruity floral scents, then do yourself a favour and DO NOT BUY IT. Overall, a great affordable perfume and I would recommend to anyone who likes 'Escape' but Calvin Klien because these are quite similar, they share most of the same top, middle and base notes but obviously 'Escape' has bigger longevity and sillage.

Bye bye now,

Perfume of the Week:

17th October 2015 (AEST)

The perfume of the week is...'Coco Mademoiselle' by Chanel. An amazing scent with VERY long lasting longevity and heavy sillage. As soon as you smell it you just KNOW its Chanel. It is very girly and yet has such depth, mystery and strength. A very popular perfume, so if you like having a unique scent I wouldn't go for this one. I smell it practically everywhere. Some think that the scent is suffocating because it is so strong but I personally love it. I love that it lasts for so long because you really only need one spray at the base of the neck and that should last you the day. Coco Mademoiselle comes in 4 different sizes 1.2 oz (35mL), 1.7 oz (50mL), 2.4 oz (70mL) and 6.8 oz (200mL). Of course the problem is that it is Chanel, and Chanel is very expensive. The 1.2 oz perfume bottle is $116, 1.7 oz is $159, 2.4 oz is $234 and 6.8 oz is $350. 350 DOLLARS!!!! OUCH!!! Yeah...well after saying the price its really hard to justify my decision of buying it... BUT in my defense I tried it on and fell in love with it. I don't wear it that often because of the price and because I prefer to wear a unique scent. Since I barely use it, and because it only takes one spray to last for the day (that rhymed hahaha) I have only gone through a ridiculously small amount since I bought it last year. Obviously it is not for everyone, however, I am yet to meet one of my friends that doesn't like it. To be honest the only things not to like about it is that it is quite popular, VERY expensive and if you don't like strong floral scents.

Ciao for now,

Perfume of the Week:

10th October 2015 (AEST)

This weeks perfume of the week is 'Daisy Dream' by Marc Jacobs. I LOOOVEEE Marc Jacobs. I love the watches the shoes but ESPECIALLY the perfumes. Daisy Dream is a variation of the original Marc Jacobs fragrance 'Daisy' from 2007. However, it is a much more sophisticated scent than Daisy. Daisy Dream comes in three different sizes: 1 oz (30mL), 1.7 oz (50mL) and 3.4 oz (100mL). It has moderate longivity and soft to moderate sillage, obviously this does depend on how much you use. Daisy Dream is perfect for day to day use and is best for use during Spring and Summer. I absolutely adore the scent but don't use it as often as most of my other perfumes simply because it is quite expensive. 1 oz is generally sold for $60, 1.7 oz for $90 and 3.4 oz for $120 (Edit: I found out that the Marc Jacobs website had put it in US Dollars so these are the costs in AUD). Now I have to say, this scent is not for everyone, it really depends on your personal preference and/or sensitivity to stronger fragrances. While the frangrance is strong, the ingredients of the perfume are quite allergy friendly, at least that is what I have found. I can get mild allergic reactions to strong perfumes but I didn't with this one. You really have to love this perfume if you are going to buy it. It is far too expensive to buy if you are just going to use it a few times and then get sick of it, or if you don't like it that much in the first place. Overall, I think it is a really sophisticated scent that can be both subtle and strong at the same time. One of my favs, but you be the judge, write in the comments below and tell me what you think.

See ya next week,

BB xx

Perfume of the Week:

3rd October 2015 (AEST)

This weeks perfume of the week is Victoria's Secret 'Strawberries and Champagne.' It smells AMAZING and is easy on the allergies (as are all VS Body Mists). However, if you are extremely allergic to fragrances, I would avoid this one because it is one of the stronger scents of the VS Body Mist collection. It has a moderate sillage and weak to moderate longevity. If you prefer perfumes that linger for long periods, this one isn't for you, however applying this perfume multiple times throughout the day will easily solve this problem. Generally, you only need one spray at the base of the neck, or one spray on each collarbone. For better diffusion also spray once on each wrist. All in all, it is an intoxicating scent and is perfect for your day to day use. It is very affordable and the bottle should keep you going for a while. I have had this particular one since April and have only gone through about a sixth of it and I use it at least 4 times a week.

Until next week,

BB xx
